Lone Star From Indiana. The black on red paisley print of the outer border suggests 1925. eBay purchase
2004 or 2005. 66"x96" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Light weight cotton. Backing: Black cotton. Edge: A tape
extends 1" on both sides and is caught by hand on the back. Piecing: Blocks and large motifs, by machine.
The red and black stars are appliquéd , and the black segments finished with blanket stitching in heavy-
weight cotton thread. Quilting: By hand, 4-5 stitches per inch outlining the stars. Within all the fields
around each star, quilting patterns are from playing cards: A heart, a diamond, a club, a spade. The quilt-
ing is not close or dense. Condition: Excellent. Comment: Similar to that of "Lone Star with Satellites" in this
collection, a dramatic central star with outlying stars.
