               ing: Cotton percale. Edge: The back is brought to the font ¾” and caught by hand. Piecing: By machine.
               Quilting: By hand, following the edges of triangles and diamonds, 7 stitches per inch. Condition: Excellent.
               Comment: The name of this pattern comes from Hall and Kretsinger, The Romance of the Patchwork Quilt
               (1936) reprinted by Dover in 1988, page 56. I estimate the age because of the red, white and blue color
               scheme and star motif popular during the year of the bicentennial, and from the shade of blue popular
               then, and from the use of the bright white percale.
