Hearts and Gizzards. Estimated 1930s based on popularity of repeating geometric patterns then, but reds
and whites are hard to date and "Clues in Calico" shows one dated by owner at 1900 to 1925. eBay pur-
chase 2017. 68"x82" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Thin. Backing: White cotton. Edge: Separate, machined to
the front and turned to the back. Piecing: Mixed hand and machine? Curved lines by hand. Quilting: By
hand along all edges and in a straight line through the center of arrowhead-shaped pieces; straight diag-
onal lines in border 1½" apart 8 stitches to the inch. Condition: Good. Some areas of tanning on the top.
Comment: Back has areas of brown and purple like old feed sacks, but not legible and a spot like a roof
leak.
