New York Beauty and Pickle Dish
LEFT: New York Beauty or Suspension Bridge No later than 1950s. eBay purchase in 2013. 72½"x85" Piecing:
Bars and wedges are pieced by machine. Teeth are pieced by hand. Quilting: By hand 6-7 stitches per inch.
The red bars are quilted with a box with an X in it at each end and two crosswise rectangles in the center.
White boxes have an outline and an X in it. The toothed arcs are quilted with a line from base to base and
another from tip to tip. The white wedges are outlined and bisected. Condition: Very good. I see one ¼"
spot on the top near an edge that looks washable, and very slight tanning of some of the whites that would
wash out with Oxiclean. Comment: I am sure the vendor lost possible bidders because of her description of
this quilt. Intending to tie into a fad for "Shabby Chic" decoration, she listed the quilt as "Shabby."
