Hmong Scene of Warfare Late 1980s or early 1990s. Purchased in the Seattle area in the early 1990s. Over
all 60"x65", picture area is 37½"x42" Fabric: Cotton with embroidery. Batting: None. Backing: Firm white
fabric that feels like thin linen. Edge: Front is turned to back ½" and stitched by hand. Piecing: By machine.
Quilting: None. Condition: Excellent; new. Comment: This is a period piece for showing weaponry and
soldiers in camouflage, as well as village scenes, ethnic costumes, crops and animals, including pigs that
look like javalinas. By the early 1990s, Hmong refugees from warfare had settled in the Snoqualmie Valley
and were selling crafts like this.
