LEFT: Whig’s Defeat Turkey Feather Colors could be as old as 1850s. The pattern is old. Purchased at a
Juanita, WA antique show from "Old Glory Antiques" of Eugene, OR. The vendor bought it from an old
woman whose daughter didn’t want to keep it. The older woman could not recall where she got it, but
it was packed with items she had purchased in upstate New York in the 1960s. 92"x95" Fabric: Cotton.
Batting: Thin cotton with some debris in it. Backing: White cotton. Edge: Applied by machine to the front
and attached by hand to the rear. Piecing: By hand; 1 patch of 1"x1½" restoration within a green wedge.
Quilting: By hand, very regular stitches. Quilting is green thread within the green areas, otherwise in
white. Petals are outlined. Quilting echoes the wedges. Filled with quilting of three rows ¼" apart in sets
1½" apart. Condition: Very Good. One green patch has been repaired. One 3 /8" age freckle in a large motif.
Comment: Selected in part for the rarity of the pattern.
