American Centennial Eagle 1876. eBay purchased before 2005 from Pennsylvania. 82"x87" Fabric: Cotton.
Batting: Light weight cotton. Backing: Cotton muslin. Edge: The front is brought to the back ½" and hand
stitched. Piecing: By hand. Quilting: By hand, 6 stitches to the inch, extensive: There are concentric circles
in the center motif lines following the curve of wings and tails ¾" apart, and a l" grid over the white center
field and pink eagle heads. All borders contain cable quilting. Condition: Made from a thin cotton so that
wings show through the bodies from beneath the seam line. The yellow has popped and split in small
splits throughout. Comment: A rare quilt. Pattern was popular in 1876 for the American centennial.
