               Ducks with Red Sashing Post 1943. Purchased at an antique show in Puyallup, WA prior to 2003. 56"x90"
               Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Thin and low loft, so probably cotton. Backing: Cotton in gray-green with one
               edge a 4½" wide tan strip and on the other edge a brown strip varying from 2" to 3½". Edge: Edges are
               turned under and joined by hand. Piecing: By hand. Quilting: By hand in 2 stitches per inch in vertical
               rows about ¾" apart. Condition: Excellent. Comment: The stitching is an important part of the look of this
               quilt. Notice that the body of one duck is upside down, creating an unrecognizable animal. Made by a
               Japanese-American woman named Fern Oseau who married an American and came to the US in 1943
               (during WWII). She was in her 70s at the time I purchased it. It was sold for her by a family friend.
