Baskets Probably 1900s, using turkey red, chrome yellow, indigo blue calico, and the coarse backing fabric.
76"x82" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Medium weight. Backing: Heavy cotton, extended with a small patch ma-
chined on in one corner, grayish tan with irregular fading, selvages showing. Edge: Brown calico tape on
three sides and red and green plaid on one side, applied by hand on the back. Piecing: By machine. Quilt-
ing: Clamshells in lines just over 2" apart, 4 stitches to the inch. Condition: Very good. The top is pristine.
The back has age spotting. Comment: The simplicity of the design looks Amish, the colors Pennsylvania
Deutsch. The large scale of the motif looks like a 1970s supergraphic.
