my mom had a
quilt like that
Double Wedding Ring with Blue Ground No later than 1950s. Most of the prints look 1930s. Florence, OR an-
tique store, Ellensberg’s antiques in 2000. 67"x79.5" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Medium weight cotton. Backing:
Green and white cotton floral print (visible as a stripe in the blue fields on front, too). Edge: The back is
brought to the front 1" and caught by hand. Piecing: The arcs are machine assembled and top-stitched to
the blue blocks. Quilting: By hand 4 stitches to the inch. The quilting pattern is radiating lines from the
center of the blue elongated diamonds, and in parallel lines in the areas captured by the wedding ring
loops. Condition: Very good. There is slight browning of one lavender patch, not visible without looking
for it. Comment: Note odd stripe of backing to extend the size of the quilt. The vendor said that she’d
bought the quilt without the chance to preview it and sold it for what she had put into it because she said
the stitches were long, and she thinks she cannot sell quilts well because of the competition from Chinese
imports.
