Carpenter’s Maze Estimated no later than 1920s, based upon the "madder red". eBay purchase from vendor
GB-Best (Donna Vitale) from Pennsylvania in 2011. 83"x84½" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Thin. Backing: Cotton
muslin. Edge: The back is brought to the front 3 /8" and caught by hand. Piecing: By machine. Quilting: By
hand, 10 stitches to the inch, in the borders in parallel rows 3 /8" apart in sets 1¼" apart. In plumes in the
larger white areas of the motif; 1" grid elsewhere. Condition: Very good. The top shows three age freck-
les that I have not yet tried to fade out. Comment: The back bears a tag saying "Made in Adams County.
Owner-Grace Wetzel. Maker: Anna Plank Weikert. Documented April 1989." Adams County is the area
around Gettysburg, and has a list of archives that might be used to trace this owner or maker, but the
obituary website cannot be found.
