The 2018 Top Teens of America HBCU Tour’s second visit was “on the hill” at Prairie View A&M University in
Prairie View, Texas. A cadre of Prairie View ambassadors and student leaders greeted the delegation of Top
Teens and Top Ladies. Kudos to Lady Gwen Carter, Lady Burnest Carter and the Prairie View Top Ladies and
Top Teens for their attendance and support. A campus wide tour was conducted to include visiting dorms, build-
ings/classrooms, sports facilities and lunch at the student center.
The campus ambassadors were knowledgeable recruiters as they provided useful admissions information and an
abundance of PV paraphernalia. One of the highlights of the tour was a visit to the School of Engineering and
Architecture where the renown Dr. Benjamin Banneker’s Honors College of Engineering is housed. The Teens
witnessed several mechanical and electrical engineering demonstrations using the latest robotics and digital media
technology. During lunch at the student center, an interesting and lively discussion developed between the Teens
and the ambassadors about Black college life. Also, several former Top Teens who are students at PV, stopped
by to say hello. The PV ambassadors made a spirited pitch for the Teens to consider attending PV. Great visit to
Pantherland!
