Xavier University of Louisiana has the distinction of being the only historically Black Roman Catholic institution
of higher education in the United States. Located in urban New Orleans, it is noted for its outstanding pharma-
ceutical, pre-med, science and engineering curricula. They are particularly proud of the fact that Xavier University
is the premier university for educating African American students in the sciences and placing them into medical
schools as well as first in awarding African American baccalaureate degrees in the physical and biological sciences.
Xavier University if a leader in developing hands-on learning experience in next-gen technology and instruction in
the areas of robotics, augmented reality and 3D printing.
After the completion of the campus tour, the entourage was headed to the bus, when a very special person caught
up with the group – the President of Xavier University, Dr. C. Reynold Verret. He warmly greeted the students
and invited them to consider attending Xavier University. One of the students indicated that he would like to ma-
jor in pharmacy. Dr. Verret went into a building and immediately returned with applications and admission mate-
rials! The visit concluded with a photo session with Dr. Verret (front row center, white shirt) and members of
his staff.
