sponsored the entertainment for the HBCU Gala and over $45,000 in donations and services-in-kind for the
40th Syn-Lod.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - Our partnership is the Top Teens of America Walk that is held annually
the third Saturday in May. Approximately $70,000.00 was raised during the program year. Presentations
were made by representatives of St. Jude at all National meetings and at most area conferences.
MarchofDimes- TTA/TLOD participated in the Walk for Babies and raised over $60,000 during the program
year. A successful "Jail & Bail" was conducted at Syn-Lod.
The Balm in Gilead is a church based organization that focuses on health disparities in the African American
Community. TLOD partnered with the Balm to bring attention to caregiving and clinical trials. TLOD
participated in the Healthy Churches 20/20 conference by providing a booth and participating on programs.
JSD Foundation and the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Foundation - these two foundations joined forces to form
the A-TEAAM (Ambassadors of the Evers Academy for African American Males) which is a mentoring
program for African American males 12 years old who are mentored by professional African American
males in the community. A total of nine chapters participated in this endeavor: East St. Louis, Houston,
Inglewood, Washington, DC, Cincinnati, Starlight, Area III - North Cluster, San Antonio, and Humble
Intercontinental.
Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA) - TLOD is working with SCDAA to promote clinical trials
and research. TLOD sponsored a booth at the conference and the Sickle Cell Chairman presented abstracts
at the last three conferences.
Traditional Programs
Boys & Girls Booked on Barbershops, Take a Loved One to the Doctor, Make a Difference Day, Dress for
Success and our many National Days of Service.
Membership
Five new chapters were chartered: Will County Black Diamond (Crete, IL) - Area III; Tipton County
(Memphis, TN), Effingham (Effingham, GA), and Queen City (Charlotte, NC) - Area IV; and Patuxent
(Patuxent, MD) - Area II.
Honorary Members
Myrlie Evers-Williams, Dr. Glenda Glover, and Dr. Pernessa Seele.
Volunteer Hours
The aggregate amount of volunteer hours provided is over 500,000 annually.
Scholarships
The aggregate amount of scholarship monies provided is over $250,000 annually.
