Prematurity Awareness Campaign 2015-2016

Chapters went “Purple” in honor of Prematurity Awareness Day each November 17th. Chapter
members showed their support by posting photos on their social media pages. During each
Thursday in November, Top Teens posted baby pictures in support of prematurity awareness.

Ms. Gwen Carmon National March of Dimes Director of Volunteer Diversity & Leadership serves
as the liaison for the partnership. Ms. Carmon conducted webinars each year for chapters to begin
their fundraising campaigns. She also provided organization support for all of the Area
Conferences. Ms. Carmon encouraged Top Teens to apply to become members of the Student
Leadership Corps and the National Youth Council.
National Director of Operations Lady Jacqueline Wilcher attended a welcoming reception for the
incoming March of Dimes President Stacey D. Stewart. The reception was held on February 8, 2017
at The University Club in Washington D.C. President Stewart is the first African American female
to lead the March of Dimes.
Lady Jacqueline F. Carter was invited to attend the 38th Annual Houston Chronicle Best Dressed
Luncheon & Fashion Show held at the Houston Marriot Marquis on March 23, 2017. The fashion
show is a key fundraiser for the March of Dimes.
As a March of Dimes outreach project; Top Ladies and Lords were asked to become peer reviewers
with the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). Participants were asked to read
project documents that focus on issues people care about the most. The Patient-Centered Outcomes
Research Institute (PCORI), is an independent nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that
conducts research into the comparative effectiveness of health care treatments and interventions.
