                             Temple Israel Honors

                               Grace Levie

Grace Levie came to the US from Cuba as a young girl, and she moved to Brooklyn where she met
her first husband, Jack Dolgin. After his passing, Grace met Edward Levie, to whom she was
married for 45 years. Grace and her family moved to Long Beach in 1960, and she has been a
member of Temple Israel for 55 years. She has four children, Laurel Barrie (Norman),
Carey Dolgin (Ellen), Elaine Dolgin-Lieberman (Aaron), Mindy Dolgin-Schwartz (Sam),
seven grandchildren (Jason, Melissa, Jackie, Jenna, Michael, Danielle and Jack) and four
great grandchildren (Brooke, Mia, Drew and Cameron).

As a longtime resident of Long Beach, Grace has been a member of many local philanthropic
organizations. Grace is currently a member of the Temple Israel Sisterhood Board, Associate
Trustee of Temple Israel, President of Jewish Women International, formerly B’nai B’rith Women,
and serves on the Advisory Board of JASA. Grace is a Life Member of Temple Israel Sisterhood,
Hadassah, Long Beach Hospital Auxiliary, American Cancer Society, and Cancer Care. From
2013 to 2016. Grace held the position of Commissioner of the Housing Authority in Long Beach,
and she taught ESL (English as a Second Language) for ten years in the Long Beach Middle
School.

Grace has received honors for her work with Temple Israel at the Annual Dinner, along with her
late husband Ed, and at a Torah Fund luncheon. She has been honored by B’nai B’rith Women,
where she received the B’nai B’rith Youth Services Award and by UJA, ADL/Isidore Komanoff
Human Relations, and the League of Women Voters.
