From Generation to Generation

                            Temple Israel Honors

                        Phyllis A. Fisher

I have been a member of Temple Israel for almost my entire life. My parents moved to
Long Beach when I was five years old. My father was a founding member of
Temple Israel, where I attended Sunday School and Hebrew School, had my Bat Mitzvah, and
returned year after year to be with my parents for the High Holidays.

I was a legal secretary before I entered the work force of the City of New York, in the
Department of Environmental Protection, from which I retired twenty-five years later.
During that time, I served as secretary to the Commissioner and President of the Board of
Water Supply, Herbert M. Rosenberg.

My other activities include membership in both the Sisterhood of Temple Israel and
Jewish Women International.

I have always enjoyed spending time with the friendly and interesting members of the
Temple Israel Congregation. In fact, that is how I met George Nagel, another Temple
Israel Honoree, with whom I now share much of my life.
