1. OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT
Safety Organization of SC division has been putting continuous efforts to
create safety consciousness among the field staff engaged in train
operation duties to provide a reliable & safe service to the customers. High
priority to safety has been accorded by the division, aiming to reduce
possibility of accidents.

Organization Structure:

Safety organization is playing its unique role towards achieving this goal by
consistently adopting a number of measures viz.,
 Safety drives on sensitive areas and where activities not readily
conforming to a set of rules.
 Night Inspections, Surprise Night Inspection.
 Frequent Ambush Checks to prevent adoption of Short cut methods.
 Extensive safety camps and safety seminars by associating Officers &
Supervisors.
 Counselling of Safety Category Staff all over the division.
 Conducting of alcoholic (BA) test for Safety Category Staff all over the
division.
 Issue of regular Safety literature i.e Fortnightly Safety bulletins on
irregularities noticed during inspections and Safety Alert Advises on
different safety instructions/rules are issued in bilingual form for easy
understanding by the grass root level staff.
 Monitoring of PME & Refresher Course of the Safety Category Staff.
 Public Awareness programs conducted at manned LCs with RTOs, Safety
Posters/Stickers have been printed and distributed to all concerned and
public.
 Periodical Joint inspection of ART / MRV & ensuring its movement.
 Conducting inter divisional safety audit in selected stations in other
division.

With the above measures Safety Organization is putting all its efforts to
minimize the possibilities of accidents.
