Competency of Gatemen and availability of infrastructure as per
prescribed norms, are being ensured.
Night Surprise Checks are being conducted to ensure alertness and
sobriety of Gatemen.
Gatemen are being counselled on action to be taken in case of
unusual/abnormalities noticed by running trains.
Safety boards are provided at all LCs indicating duties of Gatemen on
observation of various abnormal situations.
Gatemen are being counselled on action to be taken in case of gate
failures/road vehicles obstructing –Dealing of trains.
Joint ambush checks with civil authorities are conducted to nab errant
road vehicle drivers under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988,
and the Railways Act, 1989.
D. Steps taken for system improvements and to bring awareness
among safety category staff:
Safety drives are being conducted as given in safety calendar and as
and when ordered by RB/HQ/Division. Total 24 safety drives conducted
upto Oct’21(RB-10, HQ-9 & Divn-5). Its compliance is submitted to CSO
office and no drive’s compliance is pending as on date.
Frequent ambush checks/night inspections are being conducted and
staff alertness being checked. Errant staff are being brought to the notice
of concerned branch officers.
Intensive inspection/audits conducted at major private sidings and the
deficiencies noticed were advised to siding authorities for immediate
attention.
The deficiencies/irregularities noticed during safety inspections by safety
branch are being uploaded in SIMS inspection module and its
compliance are being monitored by safety branch and resolving the
issues in SIMS.
New initiative taken- Daily one G&SR rule is being messaged to all safety
category staff CUG phone numbers.
Audio Visual aid for smart counseling to Yard staff and Pvt/FCI sidings staff
on stabling in Pvt siding, shunting in siding and wrapping of tarpaulin on
wagons is arranged.
Monitoring the counselling of TM operators at specified intervals to
update their knowledge by CLIs at every crew depot, where these staff
are working and as directed by SSE/TM/in charge.
HAND BOOK ON SIGNAL LOCATIONS OF ALL SECTIONS WORKED BY SC
DIVISION CREW INCLUDING ADJACENT DIVISIONS WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS
ON RHS LOCATIONS ISSUED TO ALL CREW.
Safety improvement by collaborative efforts at SKP ballast siding – Siding
1&2 track linking at exit point was suspended due to combination fish
plates for 90R & 52kg rails. On insisting and arranging required material
