3. Use of Video Boroscope to check the internal components of
diesel engine

Shed witnessed some loco failures due to defective power assembly,
as in some cases the defect could not been detected during schedule
attention with available video boroscope.

The video boroscope procured to check the internal components of
diesel engine like condition of piston, cylinder liner, cylinder head, has
a camera probe with LEDs to check the condition of internal
components on a hand held screen. The light of the existing LEDs is not
sufficient and hence a clear picture of the internal component, could

not be seen on the hand held screen.
To use the Video boroscope in a better way, an additional high

illumination LED has been provided to the camera probe, with power
source through a external rechargeable battery. Due to this additional
LED, the picture of internal components and the defects can be seen
clearly on the hand held screen.
