move. I was frightened confused and overwhelmed.

babble that I had to go and would send Aroha to get
her. I turned and bolted toward the path when I heard
her shout in a very loud piercing voice, “E Kura!”
I was shaken to my core as my name seemed to
keep echoing throughout the cemetery. How did she
know that name, my birth name that no one else knew?

pocket. My mind was really on overload. How on
earth did she get my passport?

up with her school books which she had then left at
Miss Grace’s.

when she said the most outrageous thing …. “Come
close, grand-daughter.
“I want you to meet your father, my son,
Kahurangi.”
“Kura, I was there when he asked your mother to
give you your name, which means Treasure. That was
what he thought of you before you were born. A
precious one, a treasure …. Kura,”
