As we bounced our way to the Lake, I was grateful I
was in the front seat. I am somewhat prone to car
sickness and I know I could have never survived in the
back seat. Neither the Professor nor I could imagine
why it was so important that we go to this remote lake
on this particular day.
I had noticed that Aroha seemed to have a deep
respect for her Nana Grace and didn’t seem to question
her requests. Aroha said she learned through
experience that things always seemed to unfold in a
very mysterious way with her Nana Grace and it was
best to just let go and enjoy the journey. So, I guessed
this was one of those times.
We seemed to be traveling for quite a while with no
site of any lake, just mountains and trees.
We finally stopped in a small parking area carved
out in the grass and shrubs. Aroha and Miss Grace
began to walk down the rugged path to the lake which
was now finally visible.
As we followed them, my mind was drawn to the
very tall, sharp, majestic rocks that seemed to be
standing guard over the lake and the path.
