Over the past 15 years, Edens has had a diverse career
with experience in financial planning, margin mainte-
nance, lean process redesign, pricing analytics and statistic
modeling. She joined Martin Health System in 2013 as
manager of payor contracting and successfully negotiated
numerous value- based contracts and delegated credentialing agreements. Last year, she
was promoted to director of financial business services at Martin Health and is responsi-
ble for payor contracting, cost accounting and budgeting.
“I love working in health care,” Edens said. “It’s dynamic and always changing, and at
the end of the day you have the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping people make their
lives better.”
Ramona Thomas
Assistant VP/Associate Legal Counsel
Ramona Thomas joined Martin Health System in
January 2016 as assistant vice president/associate legal
counsel. She provides legal advice and guidance for the
following: corporate compliance; medical staff quality and
peer review; provider, vendor and real estate contracting;
clinical risk management; and patient safety . She also
oversees the organization-wide Enterprise Risk
Management program. Prior to joining Martin Health,
Thomas was legal counsel for Humana.
Thomas graduated from the University of Central
Florida and received her law degree from Florida State University College of Law. While
she focused on environmental law during her studies, Thomas was introduced to hospi-
tal law while working at Broad and Cassel in Tallahassee and Miami from 2009 – 2014.
“I discovered that environmental law and hospital law were similar in having strict reg-
ulatory processes that govern them,” she said. “I enjoy the challenge of working on the
legal and compliance aspects within the health care industry .”
