National Cancer Award
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) has awarded Juan C.
Paramo, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S., the prestigious Cancer
Liaison Physician Outstanding Performance Award. Dr.
Paramo is one of only 55 physicians, from 1,600 nation-
wide, to be recognized.

Neurologist Sonia Tolgyesi, M.D., has joined the staff
at Good Samaritan Medical Center, announced Chief President/CEO of Miami

years, two of which have been with the Sunrise Medical

Dr. Sonia Tolgyesi Dr. Kini, who is board certified in pediatric emergency
medicine and holds a master’s degree in hospital adminis-
tration, comes to Miami Children’s from the corporate
offices of Trinity Health in Novi, MI, where he has served as
Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations Dr. M. Narendra Kini

Eduardo C. Alfonso, M.D., the Edward W.D. Norton
Professor of Ophthalmology known for his clinical expert-
ise in diseases and surgery of the cornea and ocular micro-
biology, has been named interim chairman of Bascom
Palmer Eye Institute which serves as the Department of
Ophthalmology of the University of Miami Miller School
of Medicine. Dr. Alfonso will also serve as director of
Bascom Palmer’s patient care facilities
