         Miami Children’s Hospital Appoints
         Chief Research Officer


          Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) has appointed Raul
         Herrera, M.D., as the Chief Research Officer. He is joining
         MCH from Alexion Pharmaceuticals were he served as the
         Senior Executive Director of Clinical Research and Drug
         Development.

         West Palm Beach

         VA Medical Center

          Dr. Deepak Mandi has
         recently been named the
         New Chief of Extended Care
         for the West Palm Beach VA
         Medical Center. Dr. Mandi
         joined the West Palm Beach
         VA Medical Center in 2004   Dr. Deepak Mandi         Dr. Darin Rubin
         and has served as Section Chief of Geriatrics and Associate Chief of Medicine.
          Dr. Darin Rubin has recently been named the new Chief of Primary Care for the West
         Palm Beach VA Medical Center. Dr. Rubin served in private practice for 3 years before
         coming to the VA. He joined the West Palm Beach VA in 2000 as a staff physician, and
         after his initial year, he was promoted to the Associate Chief of Ambulatory Care.

         Barry T. Katzen, M.D., Honored
         with Career Achievement Award


          Barry T. Katzen, M.D., founder and medical director of
         Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute, has received the presti-
         gious Career Achievement Award of the 2007 Transcatheter
         Therapeutics Conference (TCT). Dr. Katzen was honored for
         his pioneering development of angioplasty for vessels outside
         the heart. Dr. Katzen performed the first “peripheral” angio-
         plasty in the United States in 1978 by using a balloon mount-
         ed on a catheter to open a blocked artery.          Dr. Barry T. Katzen

         UM Neurology Chairman Receives

         Prestigious American Heart
         Association Award

          Ralph Sacco, M.D., M.S., Miller Professor of Neurology and
         Epidemiology and Chairman of the Department of Neurology
         at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine,
         received the 2007 Chairman’s Award of the American Heart
         Association.

         W. Jeffrey Davis, D.O., Named
         Chief Medical Officer


          St. Mary’s Medical Center CEO Davide M. Carbone
         announced that W. Jeffrey (Jeff) Davis, D.O., F.A.C.E.P., has
         been named the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO).
          Dr. Davis is board certified in emergency medicine and
         utilization review and most recently served as Trauma
         Agency Director for the Palm Beach County Health Care
         District and Medical Director of EMS, Department of
         Public Safety in the Town of Palm Springs.
