Examples : (i) She said to me, “You are a good dancer”. (Direct speech)
She told me that I was a good dancer. (Indirect speech)
(ii) He said to him, “You are a brilliant student”. (Direct speech)
He told him that he was a brilliant student. (Indirect speech)
· The third person (he, she, it, they, their, his, her, him) in the reported speech remains
unchanged in the indirect speech.
Examples : (i) You said, “She loves him”. (Direct speech)
You said that she loved him. (Indirect speech)
(ii) She said, “They are singing a song”. (Direct speech)
She said that they were singing a song. (Indirect speech)
(iii) They said, “It is raining”. (Direct speech)
They said that it was raining. (Indirect speech)

The pronoun 'you' may also be changed to 'I' when the person being addressed to is not
