The Gaganyaan project aims to demonstrate India's
human spaceflight capability by launching a crew of
three members into orbit, reaching an altitude of 400
km for a mission lasting three days. The mission's
primary goal is to ensure the safe return of the crew by
landing in the waters of the Indian Ocean. This project
is being realized through a well-planned strategy that
leverages the expertise of the Indian space agency, the
experience of the Indian industry, the intellectual
resources of academic and research institutions within
India, and cutting-edge technologies available through
international partnerships. Several critical
technologies need to be developed as prerequisites for
the Gaganyaan mission.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 17km stretch
of India's inaugural regional rapid transit system (RRTS) in
Ghaziabad, highlighting his government's dedication to
enhancing citizens' quality of life by strengthening public
transportation. He also praised the nation's progress in
various domains, including land, air, and sea.
Beginning on October 21, the public will have access to the
train. The full 82.15 km RRTS corridor is scheduled to be
fully operational by June 2025. The trains operating on this
initial segment can reach speeds of up to 180 km/hour,
significantly reducing travel time between Delhi and
Meerut to under an hour.
