Cyclone Michaung : Chennai witnesses worst rain in

       70-80 years

Greater Chennai Police says that five deaths have
occurred due to various reasons including electrocution
and falling of trees, as the city reels under the effect of
cyclone Michaung. A massive flood-like situation,
triggered by heavy rain and waterlogging, completely
disrupted normal life in the city and the surrounding
areas on Monday. According to municipal administration
and water supply minister KN Nehru, the city (Chennai)
is seeing rains worse than what it saw in 70-80 years.
Power and internet disruptions compounded the city's
challenges. Operations at Chennai airport have been
suspended until 11:30pm due to strong winds.
Commuters found themselves stranded as suburban
train and bus services remained affected.
