of	sharing	contributes	to	an	energy	exchange	that	amplifies	our	own	pleasure—
and	is	something	we’re	hardwired	to	do.”

21.	Include	“click	to	tweet”	boxes	in	your	blog	post.
This is a fun and easy way to increase the number of tweets you get on any
article.	There	are	several	free	services	that	allow	you	to	embed	tweetable	quotes
right	into	your	blog	post.	Pull	out	the	best	quotes	from	your	post,	and	paste	them
to a “click to tweet” box you can access for free on the Internet. An attractive
box	appears	in	the	context	of	your	post,	encouraging	readers	to	easily	click	and
tweet	a	meaningful	quote.

22.	Add	your	personality.
In	the	next	two	chapters,	we’ll	be	exploring	two	intertwined	BADASS	factors—
building an Alpha Audience and creating the Heroic Brand. Both elements
require	an	extraordinary	emotional	connection	to	the	author,	brand,	or	company.
And	that	is	delivered	through	content	that	connects.

To	stand	out	on	the	web	today,	you	must	be	original.	And	to	be	original,	you
need	to	inject	your	personality	into	the	content.	Let’s	conduct	a	quick	test.	Look
at the headline examples below and choose which one you’re more likely to
click	and	share:

“Five	common	mistakes	on	Twitter”	or	“My	biggest	Twitter	catastrophe”
“Three	great	recipes	for	corn”	or	“How	corn	saved	my	rehearsal	dinner”
“Testing	three	new	servers”	or	“How	I	fell	hopelessly	in	love	with	cloud
      computing”

If you’re like most people, you probably picked the second option in these
examples. Even though these posts would be appropriate for a corporate blog,
the headline hints at something personal, unique, and revealing. The first
headlines could have been written by anyone. But the second headlines could
only	be	written	from	the	perspective	of	a	real	person.	Create	content	for	humans.
Create	content	that	only	you	can	create.

Well,	that	should	give	you	enough	to	work	on	for	a	few	weeks.	But	we’re	just
getting	started!	Your	work	to	build	shareability	into	your	content	will	always	be
sub-optimized	if	you	don’t	also	find	and	nurture	an	audience	who	is	primed	and
ready for ignition. Let’s discover a BADASS strategy to create an Alpha
Audience	most	likely	to	share	your	content.
