Vv 24 And you shall put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings which are on the ends
of the breastplate.
Vv 25 And the other two ends of the wreathen chains shall be fastened in the two ouches and put
them in the shoulder piece of the Ephod before it.
Vv 26 And you shall make two rings of gold and you shall put them upon the two ends of the
breastplate in the border of thereof which is in the side of the Ephod inward.
Vv 27 And two other rings of gold you shall make and shall put them on the two sides of the
Ephod underneath toward the front part over against the other couplings above the Curious
Girdle of the Ephod.
The word “Curious” simply means “cunning” signifying that its design was extraordinary.
Vv 28 And you shall bind the breastplate by the rings unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of
blue that it may be above the curious girdle of the ephod and that the breastplate be not loosed
from the ephod.
Ephod
A sacred vestment originally designed for the high priest and made of gold blue purple and
scarlet and fine twined linen held together by two shoulder pieces and a skillfully woven band
which served as a girdle for the ephod.
On the shoulder piece were two onyx stones which were engraved the names of the twelve tribes
of Israel. Attached to the ephod by chains of pure gold was a breastplate containing twelve
precious stones in four rows.
Underneath the ephod were the blue robe of the ephod extending to the feet of the priest. The
robe of the ephod was thus a garment comprising in addition to the robe proper the ephod with its
shoulder pieces and the breastplate of judgment.
Vv 29 And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the Breastplate of Judgment
upon his heart when he goes in unto the Holy Place for a memorial before the lord continually.
