ii) RETROFITMENT OF HALOGEN HEADLIGHT WITH LED HEADLIGHT

Halogen based Headlights are provided in Three Phase Electric
Locomotives to illuminate track, track-side indication, OHE masts, any

obstruction/abnormality on track etc., With the advancement of
technology energy efficient LED based headlight for enhanced
illumination for better visibility and reliability was developed. Each
Headlight unit consists of two separate independent high intensity LED
lamps assembly provided in water proof enclosure having toughened
front glass with separate current regulators. Each unit is of 50Watts and

beam direction is independently adjustable. The intensity of the
complete head light system in bright mode, at a distance of 8 meters
is 7000 Lux and at 305 meters is 4.8 Lux. 10 loco sets of LED headlights
were supplied by M/s Evergreen Engineering Co. Pvt. Ltd., Palghar at
a cost of Rs.8,96,000/- and were retrofitted in 10 locomotives.
