1. SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS

TESTING KIT FOR MEDHA MAKE IGBT POWER MODULE

A Test bench has been developed for carrying out in house repair of
Power Modules of Medha make IGBT Traction converter.

The healthiness of IGBTs, PMI Card can be ensured with this testing kit
by connecting resistive load and triggering particular IGBT. Output
wave form will be measured with the oscilloscope.

TEST SETUP FOR TESTING MEDHA MAKE POWER MODULE
i) RETROFITMENT OF IGBT TRACTION CONVERTER

Due to obsolescence of GTO technology, non availability of spare
PCB cards & other components of GTO converters and inherent

technological advantages of IGBT technology, IGBT converters are
being retrofitted in place of GTO converters on availability. Till date 18

locomotives equipped with GTO Traction Converters were retrofitted
with IGBT Traction Converters.
