1.1.3. USFD TESTING OF RAILS/WELDS:
USFD TESTING OF RAILS/WELDS:
Timely detection of flaws & follow up action has helped the division to
maintain high level of safety standards. Division has achieved an
average monthly progress of 856 Tkms in spite of shortage of USFD PWIs.
A cumulative progress of 6848 has been achieved up to Oct-2022 as
against the annual target of 11774 KMs for the year 2022-23.
To wipe out all arrears in USFD testing, an agency has been fixed by the
headquarters for USFD testing of rails in division. The agency has tested
2973 Tkms of track up to Oct-2022 against the annual target of 5170
Tkms.
The defects identified during the year 2022-23 (April 2022 – Oct-2022)
are shown below. Total 62 IMRs + 05 IMRWs have been identified in
USFD testing during the current year. With effective USFD testing the
defective rail/welds were attended in time, thus averting occurrence
of major failures. Thus rail/weld failures in the division have been
reduced to a great extent.
