               1.6     TESTING OF SWITHCHES:

               1.  As per C.S.No.5 of USFD Manual testing USFD testing of all the switches is
                   being done as per the frequency of Rail testing. During the testing, 2 IMRs
                   have  been  identified  and  tongue  rails  are  replaced  with  new  one
                   immediately, thus averting major failure.
               2.  If OBS/OBSW is detected within 4 meters of rail length then it is treated as
                   IMR (C.S.No 3) and necessary action is taken. As on Oct 2022 there was 11
                   IMRs, in SC division and all are replaced.
               3.  If OBS/OBSW is on Major Bridges and approaches 100m either side then it is
                   treated as IMR (C.S.No 3) and necessary action is taken. As on Oct 2022

                   there was 31 IMRs, in SC division, and all are replaced.
               4.  SC Division has been instructed by HQ to purchase 12 nos. of B-scan SRT
                   machines with 9 channels for USFD testing of track where the speed is 130
                   kmph. The indent is under process.

               1.1.4. COMPARISON OF RAIL/WELD FAILURES FOR THE LAST 3 YRS

               Special  watch  on  the  welders  having  DGR>1.0%  is  being  done  to  minimize
               the  consequences  of  failures.  Performance  has  been  improved  by  27.03%
               over the last year (2021-22).
