Living Room
The living room is the first part of
the inside of the Pullman Car that
one encounters. Much of it is still
original, with beautiful marquetry
inlays.
The fireplace is an addition and the
clerestory windows have been filled
in. Two windows on the back wall
have been converted to bookcases.
On the lower walls the fittings which
held the tables in place can still be
seen.
There is heating by convector
heater and a fan heater
concealed in the simulated
wood burning stove. (As
Dora is a very precious,
largely timber construction,
no naked flames are allowed)
The sofa opens out as an extra
double bed. There is a television
on a swivel / tilt mount. It
receives Freeview channels and
has an HDMI lead to accept input
from a computer for internet
channels.
