Once you’ve introduced the content, you can show the software on
your desktop. But at the end of that short section, give them a
chance to practice immediately. You might do that by going back to
the PowerPoint displayed in the web conference platform and having
participants point and click on the right images on the screen shot.
Or ask them to apply the steps they just learned in a case study
example while they use the software.
Will it take a bit longer than simply displaying the software on your
desktop and telling people about what you’re doing? Yes. But the
great benefit is that they will reinforce and apply what they are
learning immediately. That leads to greater long-term learning
retention and learning transfer.
