PROPERTIES
GEATAN VA LB is a new generation synthetic tannin with high
tanning/retanning power that produces bleached, full leather with
firm grain. Used in the retanning of chrome- tanned leather, it also
provides excellent dye equalization and very good light fastness and
aging in white leather. In leather tanned with vegetable tannins, in
addition to helping to disperse the tannins, it leaves fine porosity,
firm grain and leather with a lighter tone. As GEATAN VA LB has
excellent tanning power, it can be used in the tanning of leather free
of heavy metals, producing very bleached, full leather with good
grain firmness. Another important application of GEATAN VA LB is
when used as a pre-tanning agent for leather that will later be
tanned with vegetable tannins or in metal-free processes. Applied
during the pickling phase, it conditions the hides so that they can be
transported, stored and subsequently lowered or divided, before
going on to the tanning process. GEATAN VA LB also has the distinct
virtue of being a synthetic tanning tannin with a very low content of
free bisphenol in its composition.
