In your rewriting, use words that fit for you rather than rote
                declarations. It’s been my experience—and my clients and students have
                supported this notion—that going on a positive tirade in your head is more

                fun and produces more rapid qualitative results than one-sentence
                affirmations such as “I am very intelligent” or “I am loving and wise.” Get
                into the process. Be indulgent. Where positive self-talk is concerned,
                restraint is a bad idea. Go on for moments on end if you choose.


                     For example, on the third item if you originally wrote “I am fairly
                intelligent,” you might now write, “I am smart as a whip and quick-witted
                to boot. I get a real kick out of how quickly I learn. I’m getting sharper with
                every breath. It’s a blast to be fast.”


                     Don’t merely tell yourself that you will become more intelligent, but

                rather that you are already brilliant, that at this moment you are becoming
                more so, that the process will continue, that you deserve to grow wiser, and
                that it is a done deal that is right now manifesting and pervading every
                aspect of your life. You can do the same with remarkable results regarding
                your sex appeal, your lovability, your likeability, your relationships, your
                health, and even your income.



                     Do this sort of reworking with all of the items to which your responses
                were obviously self-limiting, and use the information you draft as a basis
                for a conversation with yourself. Trot it out and play it loud and proud
                every chance you get. You might even want to create an actual recording to
                play from time to time.


                     Once you’ve created your script, embellish the process by creating
                images of yourself feeling and doing exactly as you would like, and of your
                life working just the way you want it to. Be unrelenting. Create positive

                images, then conjure them up and give them a concentrated look-see every
                chance you get.


                     This is a very personal and private process, so milk it for all it’s worth.
                You can use what you write as the basis for an internal program designed to
                fill your life with more pleasure and less pain than you thought likely. You
                can do it. And it’s well worth the effort.
