Words and photos - Thom Laycraft
“ Edmonton’s Transit Hotel has watched Fort Road evolve
from a muddy dirt road with horses and wagons in 1908
to the paved high-speed thoroughfare we see today. The
neighborhood was once a very active meat-packing district
as seen in the undated archival picture with pigs going to
market. The colorful hotel was seemingly closed for good
in 2017 but recent rumors suggest it might just be resur-
rected once again.”
