Nailsea Mark Lodge visit to Seaton in Devon
On Wednesday 2nd December 2015 eleven brethren from
Nailsea Mark Lodge No 1548 travelled by minibus to visit
the De La Pole Mark Lodge No 372 in Seaton, Devon. The
connection between the two Mark Lodges is that the WM of
De La Pole, W Bro Barry Fowkes is a past master of Estune
Lodge in Nailsea, and although now living in Colyton,
Devon is still a member of Estune Lodge and frequently
attends their meetings.
The WM of Nailsea Mark Lodge, W Bro Martin Slocombe
and W Bro Barry Fowkes have been friends for a long time,
Barry being Junior Deacon of Estune when Martin was
WM in 1994. It would appear they have both made “steady
progress” in their Mark careers having taken another 21
years to reach the Mark Chair. The brethren of De La Pole
Lodge provided excellent hospitality, ceremony and festive
board. As Barry and Martin are both Deacons in their
respective RAM Lodges, arrangements to visit De La Pole
RAM Lodge, meeting in Sidmouth, are being planned for
the future.
