JOURNAL WORK - YEAR 7
Work your way through the tasks below, (any order you like). Tick the box for each task when you have completed
it. Think about the presentation and aim to make each page interesting. Print and stick completed tasks into your
journal or upload to the Showbie group created by your Group Tutor.
REWARDS
Five good pieces of journal work = 1 HMC (awarded by your tutor)
A completed journal that shows evidence of a lot of thought and care will be considered for a Head of Year Award.
1 Be imaginative and write about ten things you didn’t do in the holidays but wished you had.
2 Think about a recent event you attended – a theatre production, concert or sports match. What are
your lasting memories? What do you think was good and not so good? Use a full page.
3 If you were Prime Minister of the UK, country think of ten laws that you would enforce and explain
why they should be enforced. Aim to make life better for people and not just for you.
4 FIRE! Imagine there was a fire in your home. Family members are safe and you can carry five things
to safety. Which five things would you choose and why? Use at least half a page.
5 Design two posters, a whole page for each. One as an anti-bullying poster and one to give advice to
someone who is being bullied.
6 Divide a page of A4 in half down the middle. On one side write ’YES’ and write down as many good
reasons why phones should be allowed in school. On the other half write ‘NO’ and write down rea-
sons to not allow phones in school.
7 Co-operation! Why is it essential and important for people to co-operate? Try and give as many
reasons with examples as you can.
8 Reflect on a past assembly and write about your thoughts. What was the point of the assembly?
Why do you remember it? What was good about it? At least 1/2 a page.
9 Choose a person from history and using a whole page design a poster to teach Year 5 pupils about
the person you have selected.
10 Design a poster to show the differences between a fixed and a growth mindset.
11 Find out what our Millfield school crest (badge) means. If you had to design a new crest for our
school, what would you put on it and why?
12 Use a full page to design an Olympic venue for the Paris 2024 Olympic games. You can choose the
sport the venue would be used for.
13 If you could invite anyone in the world to have dinner with, (alive or from history) who would be it
be and why? Write 10 questions that you would like to ask them.
14 Do you think it’s good to make mistakes or not? Give examples and explanations for your thoughts.
Use a full page.
15 Pick a country you have never visited, carry out some research then make a leaflet or advert to en-
courage people to visit that country.
16 Major Tim Peake was the first British astronaut to spend six months on the International Space
Station, (ISS). Find out about his time in space. Imagine you are him and write a one page diary
entry.
17 Use a full page to promote the benefits of sport and help people to join in.
18 Use a half page to list qualities that make a ‘good’ friend. Do you think friends are important? Give
reasons.
