PUPIL VOICE
SCHOOL COUNCIL
The Year 8 School Council Monitors each have a year group that they represent. Once a term, the monitors put
together a questionnaire for tutor groups to complete. This may be about the playground, the daily routine or any
other topics related to our school. The Council Monitors collect feedback from you in your group tutor sessions and
listen to suggestions. Your findings are then discussed at a meeting with the Head and Deputy Head of the school.
One of the monitors is elected chairperson and they run the meeting discussing ideas and hearing from each year
group. Monitors let tutor groups know about the outcome of the meetings and once a year present an assembly to
the whole school about what they have achieved.
BOARDER’S COUNCIL
The Boarders’ Council meets once per term. Heads of Boarding houses attend, but we also encourage
representatives from our junior boarding community. We discuss the ways we could improve the boarding houses
and the boarding routines, the Sunday activity program, and also talk about how the boarders can make a positive
contribution to the school as a whole.
DIGITAL COUNCIL
The Digital Council meets once a term. In attendance are: two pupils from each year group (Year 4-8), Head of
Computing & ICT (Chair), Director of ICT, Network Manager, Deputy Head (Pastoral), Deputy Head (Academic), and
the Director of Boarding.
The agreed objectives of the Digital Council are:
• To give pupils a voice for issues which concern them in the digital environment at Millfield Prep School.
• For key staff to listen to feedback from pupils on the current technology and ICT provision.
• To consider issues and discuss ways in which these might be resolved.
• To consider ICT matters from a boarding, academic, and social perspective.
SPORTS COUNCIL
The Heads of Games Houses meet The Director of Sport once per term to have an input to the sporting and activity
programme at Millfield Prep school. The feedback from these meetings is then given to staff and pupils.
FOOD COMMITTEE
The Year 8 School Council Monitors hold a meeting once a term with the Head of Catering and the Head and
Deputy Head of the school. Your tutor group will have the opportunity to discuss the food in our school. This may
be done in the form of a questionnaire which is sent to you by email or through discussions with your tutor group.
Monitors gather the feedback and take your ideas and suggestions to the food committee meeting which takes
place once a term. One of the monitors is elected chairperson and they run the meeting based on the suggestions
you have given to the council monitors. Monitors let tutor groups know about the outcome of the meetings.
ECO COUNCIL
Pupils from Year 3 to Year 8 are represented on the Eco Council. The Eco Council aims to develop our school’s green
credentials and maintain our green flag status. We look at the environmental impact within our school including: the
curriculum, food waste, electricity usage, the school grounds, transport, buildings and how we can continue to strive
to be an eco-friendly school. Reduce, reuse and recycle is our big focus. The council also helps discuss ideas for ‘Eco
Day’ which happens every two years.
