Safeguarding

          Child on Child Abuse
The school will consider whether disciplinary action may be appropriate for any student/students involved in a safeguarding
incident. Any such action should address the abuse, the causes of it, and attitudes underlying it. Disciplinary action may
          sometimes be appropriate, including:
             1. to ensure that the student/students take(s) responsibility for and realise(s) the seriousness of their behaviour(s).
             2. To demonstrate to the student/students and others that child-on-child abuse can never be tolerated.
             3. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of other students.

However, these considerations must be balanced against the child’s/children’s own potential unmet needs and any
          safeguarding concerns.

The school will, where appropriate, consider the potential benefit, as well as challenge, of using suspension as a response, and
not as an intervention. Suspension will only be considered as a last resort and only where necessary to ensure the safety and
wellbeing of the child / children in the school.

          Sharing Nudes and Semi-Nudes
It is a criminal offence to make, disseminate, possess, or show any indecent images of anyone under 18, even if the content
was created with the consent of that young person.

This is primarily a safeguarding issue and criminalisation of such matters is at the discretion of the police.

          Private Assignations
Any student(s) found to be engaging in physical sexual contact whilst on campus can expect to be suspended, potentially
pending the Headmaster’s decision. Note that any sanction would also consider the safeguarding implications of such
          behaviour.

          Behaviour Outside of School

Students are expected to adhere to the school rules whenever they are off campus as part of a supervised school group, or
          when online.

Millfield may take action in certain situations such as:
             • Behaviour which brings the school into disrepute
             • Behaviour which shows an overt support for drug culture
             • Behaviour contrary to the school rules and values whilst travelling to and from Millfield (e.g., smoking, vaping, and
consumption of alcohol are expressly forbidden)
             • Bullying and / or cyberbullying
             • Any criminal behaviour

Millfield may also take action where behaviour could have repercussions on the orderly running of the school, poses a threat
to another student or member of the public or could adversely affect the reputation of the school.
