Theft
Honesty, respect, and safety underpin life in a boarding school. Taking someone else’s belongings without permission, and
with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it constitutes an act of theft.
This holds true regardless of the monetary value of the item.
Sanctions for Theft: The usual sanction for theft is suspension.
Vandalism (including graffiti)
Acts of deliberate vandalism impact the fabric and finances of the school, but also the morale of the community.
Students involved in vandalism will be expected to cover the cost of repairs to the damage they have caused and will be
sanctioned in line with the severity of their actions.
Sanctions for Vandalism (including graffiti): The usual sanction for vandalism is a Level 5 detention or suspension.
Smoking and Vaping
E-Cigarettes and Vaping
Vaping is strictly forbidden at all times and in all places. As a consequence, vaping incurs the same sanctions as smoking.
Smoking and possession of cigarettes, tobacco, nicotine pouches, e-cigarettes, nicotine products and associated paraphernalia
is forbidden at all times and in all places, with the exception of medically sanctioned nicotine patches to aid smoking cessation.
Sanctions will be applied to any student who is found to be vaping, in possession of vaping equipment, supplying vaping
equipment, or found in the company of those vaping.

If there are concerns about vaping or smoking, students should work with their HsM to understand how best to engage with a
smoking cessation programme.
Students who supply cigarettes or e-cigarettes / vapes to students under the age of 18 will be subject to severe and
proportionate sanctions.
Being caught smoking or vaping or supplying cigarettes or vaping items, may trigger the Search Policy. Any vaping
paraphernalia containing THC, or any other illegal substance will trigger the Drug Offences and Search Policies.
Adult and Student Anti-Vaping Advisors are available to offer advice and promote good habits to change behaviours. The
Medical Centre is able to offer additional specialist support to students.
