LESLIE WASHINGTON…..
HOW WILL YOU HANDLE THESE CHALLENGES ?
FACING ADVERSITY Caused by Covid-19 Pandemic, Systemic Racism, Blacks Murdered by Police: Using the
power of my voice to speak up for what I believe in motivates me to face adversity. Change will not be
made unless one speaks up. I will continue to be a strong advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement
and uplift my people because we are important. We do matter. I want to instill this belief in my people and
others so we can all one day respect and love each other. During the pandemic I remained positive and
started new hobbies, such as sewing and thrifting. Although the transition to virtual learning was challeng-
ing, I made the best of it. I did study sessions via Zoom with my friends so we could all be successful in our
studies.
KEEPING YOU FAITH In God to Overcome the Adversities You Will Surely Face: The power of prayer and
my faith and trust in God keeps me going. He gives me the strength that I need to overcome the obstacles
that are thrown my way. I will surely face difficult classes, social and racial differences in college, and many
people underestimating me. But using the strength and belief in God, I will accept the challenges that
come my way and conquer them.
STAYING COMMITTED TO ACHIEVEMENT Academic Success, Individual Development, and Spiritual
Growth: Being proud of myself and making my parents proud keeps me going. All of my success has and
will continue to contribute to me elevating and improving so I can be the best version of myself. Also, my
success makes me a better leader and equips me with the skills and knowledge that I will use to become an
impactful mentor, leader, and businesswoman.
