MEMORIAL AWARD

The Southfield Kappa Foundation is honored to award a Scholarship in memory of Harry G. Franklin Jr,
a dearly beloved Brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc. This award will recognize the individual who best
exemplifies Brother Franklin’s commitment to Excellence and Achievement in Academics and Commu-

nity engagement.

Brother Franklin became a member of Southfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in February 1988.
Harry was known for his Work Ethic, Knowledge of Kappa, and his Commitment to Achievement. Most
of all he was committed to the Spirit of Brotherhood.

Brother Harry made major contributions to Kappa Alpha Psi at the Chapter, Province, and National
levels. His services included serving as Polemarch of Southfield Alumni Chapter, Province Exchequer,

Senior Vice Polemarch, 22 Northern Province Polemarch, elected to Grand Board of Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity and Chairman of the Grand Chapter Constitution & Statutes Committee.

One of his greatest accomplishments in Kappa was being instrumental in founding the Southfield
Kappa Foundation in 1991. He served as an Officer or Board Member of the Foundation since its

founding.

Harry was a teacher, mentor, and worker to many. He taught us how to live our lives because of how
he lived his life as a committed Father, Husband, and Community Leader. This scholarship will be
awarded annually as a reminder of the Love, Honor and Respect we hold in our Hearts for Brother
Harry G. Franklin Jr.
