6. Remember it is important that you take part in all aspects of the routine. Although
you must never be left unsupervised with the children/clients, you will be expected
to carry out all roles involved in the job as a education and health practitioner.

         7. You need to take your placement book with you every day whilst in placement.
Please remember it is your responsibility to look after it and make sure it is
                completed daily.

         8. Your supervisor will need to be shown the appropriate placement documentation
at the outset of the placement and on a regular and ongoing basis, particularly the
pages on which they can record observations of your performance, attendance
sheets, end of placement reports, etc.

         9. If you are absent from your placement for any reason, it is important that you inform
them and also telephone college on 0161 330 2330 This includes essential visits and
appointments. You MUST NOT medical and dental appointments during placement
hours, however you may have to attend certain college lessons such as GCSE
                mathematics.

         10. If you have any concerns or worries about your placement experiences, please
share them with either your placement supervisor or course leader. It is really
important that you do not let them build up over a period of time, this will make
them seem worse. It is extremely difficult to arrange a placement change and
most difficulties can be resolved if you inform someone about them. It also
gives a bad impression of yourselves and the college if you seek to change
                placements without justification.

DBS – Disclosure and Barring Service checks

Anyone who is working with what is considered to be a vulnerable group, e.g.
the elderly, children etc, are required to complete a DBS. The check is to
ensure that you have no criminal record or conviction that could hinder your
career working with children/clients and that you have not been barred from
                working in this environment.

It is a legal requirement that anyone working with small children/clients, either in
paid employment or voluntarily must complete this check. It is also a legal
requirement that all establishments see a copy of this check before they allow
students on the premises on placements. It is therefore crucial that you
complete the form issued by the DBS as soon as possible and provide any
details and documents required to the placement co-ordinator for processing.
These forms will be completed during your college induction.

If you think there may be an issue with your DBS form, you must see a member
of staff as soon as possible. You will not be allowed to start placement until
your DBS form has been returned.

Finally, remember this is an excellent opportunity to learn and observe so make
the most of it and ENJOY!!!
