Organising your class file

As part of your course it is really important for you to have a class file. A lever arch file is
the best way of making sure that you have all the materials necessary to do well in
both your lessons and to enable you to write excellent assignments.
This file should be completely separate from any assignment work.

         1. Buy a file!!! Don’t put this off as you will lose your notes!
         2. Separate your work by using dividers. A suggestion would be to have your work split up
into separate units. It might also be useful to your work colour coded by teacher, so
you can remember what teachers teach what units!
         3. At the very front of your file you will have a file check form (see below)
         4. You should also have a section with your assignment dates in and a to do list.
         5. Finally it would be a good idea to have a selection with MISC (miscellaneous).

        File checks
You will be expected to bring your class file every day to ALL lessons. Your first file
check will be on_______________________________ (Write this down here when your
             teacher gives you the information).
Equipment you will need for college

        File and dividers
        Pens
        Pencils
        Rubber
        Ruler
        A4 lined paper
A bag large enough to carry all equipment and text books.

As you will be taking part in a range of different teaching activities whilst in class, you must
bring all your stationery equipment to each lesson.

        Holidays

The college year is specially designed to give you regular breaks from the course and
gives you plenty of opportunities to catch up with any course work or go on holiday.
You MUST AVOID planning a holiday during term time as this will lead to you missing
valuable lessons and placement time. This will result in you having to make up placement
times in the holidays. It is likely, as previous students have found, that you will struggle to
catch up on missed time and therefore feel under pressure with a backlog of work. The
timetable and tasks are structured to maintain a steady workload.

Should you be unable to avoid a holiday during the term, you and your parents must
discuss this with your personal tutor and ask for permission from the college Principal. You
must also complete the relevant paperwork required.
It is also your responsibility to inform college PRIOR to your break and arrange to complete
        any missed work.
