The college day

The time you spend in college is divided into five lessons, each lasting for 70
minutes. Lunchtime is split into two. Vocational lunch begins at 11.40 and finishes at 12.50
and the mixed programme lunch begins at 12.30 and is until 13.40.
Lessons are not optional and each one must be attended. Lateness and missed lessons
will result in your college bursary not being paid unless the absence is authorised.

The college day starts at 9.00 a.m. and finishes at 16.00 p.m. It is very important that you
arrive on time for each lesson. This is especially important during the first period and you
need to make sure you have made appropriate travel arrangements to make sure this is
possible. Each individual lesson is registered and lateness or absences are recorded by
individual teachers and your personal tutor.

        Covid alterations to lessons
Depending on what group you are in, you will attend lessons in college one week, then
attend them virtually the next. You will use Canvas for this, and help is available if you
need it. It is VITAL that you attend whether it is in person, or online as content will not be
        repeated.
It is important that you wash your hands frequently/use hand sanitiser when in college
and follow all other guidance given to you by college to keep you safe.

How will I learn and be assessed?

The Education and Health team use a variety of different teaching and learning
techniques. You will probably find that each lesson is very different, you will not always
be writing. It is expected that you arrive to each lesson with the relevant stationary
and you will need to purchase a lever arch folder in order to keep notes, handouts
etc. safe. You will also be taking part in a range of practical activities. The course may
            involve:

        • Presentations
        • Writing Reports
        • Independent Research
        • Surveys
