Staying safe
Please remember YOU MUST wear your student ID so
that it is visible at all times when you are at college
You will need your ID badge to gain entrance into
college and to access facilities such as computer,
student centre and learning commons.
If you forget or lose your ID badge you will need to purchase
another. These can be purchased from the CMIS office which
is located on the ground floor in the main building
Support for students inside the classroom
The Learning Support Team are based at the back of the library and provide support and
help for students including:
• Teaching assistant in the classroom to support academic learning
• Specialist equipment
• Exam access arrangements
• Assignment and exam techniques
• Mobility/medical issues
• Specialist assessment services for example Dyslexia
All students are equal
Equality – we treat everyone fairly. At college we remove prejudices and discrimination to
make sure everyone can take part in college life.
Diversity – we value and respect differences. Festivals and activities at college celebrate
our differences and the positive value it has on individuals
Inclusion – we remove barrier to studying. For example we can offer support to students in
financial difficulty and help with your learning both inside and outside the classroom
The college Intranet (Cedar/Canvas)
On Canvas you will find the Education and Health homepage, where you will find a link to
your specific course. Here you will find a lot of information about the department
including:
• Notices
• Activity ideas
• Useful web links
• Assignment support notes
• Assignment briefs and front cover sheets
• Useful course information and helpful tips
• Course units
You should make sure you access this site on a regular basis as it has a lot of useful
information which will guide you through your studies during the course.
